City Officials in the Coalition

What role they play:

City officials within the coalition are integral for collaboration between departments and community programs. Leadership teams help spearhead the coalition goals and track the progress of the initiative.

Why they are integral to the Coalition’s success:

City officials help create a united front to combat mental illness challenges and prepare the departments and organizations for implementing their function within the initiative. This role is key in marshaling all resources in the community for one unified initiative.

The impact they’ve had:

We have seen incredible leadership within the community in response to the initiative. Coalition members have really stepped up to take on new leadership roles with care and attention to make our community healthier and happier.

Quick Tips

From Fishers’ City Leadership

Create Space for Collaboration

Create a space for all coalition members to share ideas, challenges, and triumphs. These programs are strongest when community members work together toward the same goal.

Use Data as a Guide

We don't know what we don't know. One of the first steps in creating an initiative is understanding the individual challenges your community is facing. Then use this information to guide action plans.

Adapt and Develop

There is no magic wand or quick fix for addressing mental illness challenges. Take a step back and look at how your programs are working in the community and continuously look for new ways to reach the community.

What Impact Could You Make

Through a Mental Wellness Initiative?

At the end of the day, if we can help one person who is living in what I would call quiet despair, if we can reach out to them and help them with the services and collaboration that we've come up with, then I think that's a success.
